About Us
Welcome to the inaugural season of the East Grand Rapids High School Triathlon Club! Formed by a passionate group of student athletes, many of whom are also members of the EGR Crew Team, our club was born out of the fun challenge we’ve shared training for and competing in the annual Reeds Lake Triathlon. After two summers of early Saturday morning “tri training” sessions at Bostwick Lake and Reeds Lake Triathlon race-day triumphs, we realized just how much we love the sport, and how much more we could do as an official team.
Now, we're proud to launch the first-ever EGR High School Tri Club. Open to all EGR High School students, our club is focused on building strength, endurance, and confidence through multisport training. Together, we’ll swim, bike, and run our way through the season, supporting each other every step of the way.
What is a Triathlon?
A triathlon is one of the ultimate tests of human endurance, resilience, and versatility. It combines three distinct disciplines - swimming, cycling, and running - into a continuous race, requiring athletes to transition seamlessly from one leg to the next without rest. This demanding format pushes competitors to their physical and mental limits, challenging not only their strength and cardiovascular fitness, but also their strategic pacing, adaptability, and sheer determination. More than just a race, a triathlon embodies the spirit of perseverance and the pursuit of personal excellence.
While it’s an individual event, our club will approach it as a team pursuit. We’ll train together, support one another, and celebrate progress every step of the way. It’s about pushing limits, but never going it alone.
